ISYY’s Joensuu office and office services will be relocating over the summer, and starting from Monday 4 August 2025, we will serve you at our new address: Suvantokatu 6. The new office is located at street level, next to K-Citymarket Joensuu Keskusta.
In Kuopio, ISYY’s office will continue to operate normally in the Studentia building in the autumn. ISYY’s offices will be closed for the summer from 12 June to 3 August 2025.
At the office, you can pick up your term sticker for your physical student card, or collect a free academic year calendar. You can also purchase a SYKETTÄ sticker, and ISYY or UEF merchandise. We also loan various sports and hobby equipment for free, such as badminton rackets and board games. Our office features a free book exchange shelf and a second-hand shelf with everyday items for sale at low prices.
We also offer advice and support for a wide range of student life issues – if you’re not sure who to ask, just ask us!
ISYY’s Suvas Meeting Room and Sauna Facilities, which are available for rent, are located in the same building in the basement. The entrance to Suvas is on the courtyard side of the building.
In the new Suvantokatu facilities, a separate space is reserved for ISYY clubs’ use during the evenings. Club activities will begin in September, and more information will be shared in the autumn through ISYY’s website, newsletters, and social media channels.

ISYY’s Joensuu office was previously located at Suvantokatu from 2008 to 2012, before moving to UEF’s rented campus facilities in the Haltia building. According to UEF’s real estate plan, the Haltia premises will be entirely allocated to the Faculty of Science, Forestry and Technology. Haltia office spaces have also posed challenges due to accessibility issues and limited space, and the Student Union has been searching for new office space for some time.
The Suvantokatu premises are owned by the Student Union and have previously been rented out to external operators. The facilities are currently vacant, and due to the general economic situation, it has been difficult to find new tenants. Moving back to Suvantokatu is therefore financially justified under the current circumstances, and the new location allows us to offer better services – as well as reinvest saved funds into improving our operations even further.
